David Patrick Smith, 55 of Elba, AL passed suddenly on May 16, 2022 in Tallahassee, FL. David was proceeded in death by his father William S. (Sue) Smith, Andalusia, AL; his grandparents Joseph and Bess Smith of Luverne, AL; Harry and Opal Utt, Beckley WVA; Aunt Margaret Ann (Hubert) Holiday of Luverne, AL; Uncles; Joseph Michael (Mickey) Smith, MA; Jack Utt, Cleveland, OH; and Jerry Utt, Crawfordville, FL. He is survived by his mother and step-father Linda and Benny Williams Sr, Tallahassee, FL; his beloved sister Laura K. Smith Jones, Crawfordville, FL. Step-brothers, Benny, Jr (Terrie); Richard (Ricky); Craig (Lisa); His uncle Laurence (Larry) (Debbie) Smith, Luverne, AL. Aunts Sue (Carl) Daniel, Lester, WVA; Phyllis (Don) Jackson, Tallahassee, FL; Great Aunt Ava McKinney, Beckley, WVA and numerous cousins and lifetime friends. David obtained his BS degree and a Certification in Electrical HVAC from Georgia Tech, going on to work as a supervisor in electrical commercial companies. Those who knew David ( Big Dave) will always remember his sarcastic and dry, but very funny sense of humor. His knowledge and eclectic taste of music was appreciated by all that met him and he was also known for his great service and activities in Narcotics and Alcoholics Anonymous, in Tallahassee, FL before moving to Elba, AL and joining Alcoholic Anonymous, District 11 for Coffee, Covington, Crenshaw, Dale and Pike Counties for the past six years serving as the Alt DCM where he was a blessing to many. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, June 24, 2022 at 11:00 am Central time at Luverne First Baptist Church, 45 East Third Street, Luverne, AL, 36049.
