    Edna Earl Lomagistro

    July 29, 1927 - September 8, 2021

Edna Earl Lomagistro, 94, passed away on September 8, 2021 while under the care of her son, daughter in-law, and Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee, Florida. She was born in Laurel, Mississippi to parents Ollie and Eula Mae Newcomb on July 29, 1927. Edna married Peter Lomagistro in 1946 and they lived much of their married life in New York. Together they raised three children and were active within their community and enjoyed happy times with friends. In 1981 Peter and Edna moved to Coral Springs, Florida where they spent their retirement years. They were members of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Coral Springs as well as the church Senior Group. Edna also was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and H2U – Health To You, a local community group affiliated with University Community Hospital in Tamarac, Florida. Edna will be remembered as a true “Southern Girl” and a skilled cook, especially with Italian cuisine. She loved to shop and always looked her best. In June 2021, Edna moved to The Grove at Canopy in Tallahassee. She lived independently there and was just beginning to meet new friends before becoming ill. Survivors include her children, Frank Joseph Lomagistro, M.D. (Patti), Patricia Paula Nell (Dennis) and Marianne L. Murphy (James Zingler); grandchildren Scott Lomagistro, Collin Lomagistro, Allison Murphy, Lauren Murphy, Kristy Caudill and Jesse Nell; great-grandchildren Smith, Sutton and Londyn, as well as a host of extended family members who will remember her fondly and miss her deeply. Edna is now reunited with her husband Peter Joseph Lomagistro, her baby daughter Jean Marie Lomagistro, and her siblings Loma Vaughn and Ollie Newcomb who predeceased her. A memorial service honoring Edna’s life will be held at Wildwood Church, 100 Ox Bottom Road in Tallahassee on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 10:30 am with a reception to follow at the church. Memorial contributions may be made in Edna’s name to Big Bend Hospice 1723 Mahan Center Blvd, Tallahassee, FL 32308. The family is so grateful for the loving support they received and the care given to their much loved mother. Breanna Green of Bevis Funeral Home is assisting the family with their arrangements.
