December 2, 1931 - January 16, 2021
Aloha Oe, O La Ka Makuahine O! Farewell to Thee, Oh Mother! Queen of our Hearts! Emmanell Nani Vieira Tucker, aka “Nell,” ascended the Heavens on January 16, 2021. Before our mother’s ascension, she told us that she was preparing a picnic basket for her and our father, Luther “Kit” Tucker, Jr., who has been anxiously awaiting her arrival to their tropical paradise, beyond the pearly gates! Being a native Hawaiian, born on December 2, 1931, in Honolulu Hawaii, our mother, lovingly known as Grandma Nell, brought a newfound culture to this little southern patch of the Continental United States. Both Wakulla County and Leon County, as well as the surrounding tri-state area, would forever be changed by her introduction! To say she “touch our lives,” and “was a light among us,” wanes in comparison to how brilliantly Nell’s light shone. No candle has ever burned as brightly as Nell’s candle! She was/is the epitome of grace under pressure, the Mother of many…oh, so many, multi-faceted, the Leader among leaders, the Teacher of all teachers, the Master Builder of Creative Things, The Maker of Something from Nothing, the Songstress, the Domestic Goddess, Sharp Tongued and Quick Witted, her influence on ALL our lives is incomprehensible! She made us ALL want to aspire to greater heights! She enriched our lives with the beauty and love of her culture and left us a deeply rooted loyalty and understanding of our Hawaiian heritage! Nell was the Queen of the Campus, as she attended the prestigious academia of Kamehameha! Crowds parted as The Queen walked those hallowed halls. Her legend continued, even unto her impending departure from this earthly existence, she remained The Queen! Nell’s legend followed her to Brigham Young University, as people witnessed her queenliness unfold around her, which was unprecedented, bar none! Very little time passed, before she became the “Queen of THAT campus,” too! This is where she and our father first met, their love story began, and their future family was discussed! When Nell walked into a room, she immediately breathed life into that space! It wasn’t uncommon to hear whispers of excitement as admirers said, “Look! Here comes Nell!” In life and now in the eternities, she will forever remain “The Queen, The Legend, The Wit, The Leader, The Songstress, The Hapa Hoale Hula Gal, The Mother to ALL and The Life of the Party!” Mama, this is but a brief parting, for Families are Forever! Aloha Oe, O La Ka Makuahine O! Farewell to Thee, Oh Mother! Queen of our Hearts! Until we meet again! Nell is survived by her sister, Barbara Mamo Vieira Shrinski, her 7 children and their respective families: Luther Christopher Tucker III, and wife Anne Francois, Robert Thomas Tucker, Grace Nani Urie, and husband Boyd R. Urie, Lowell Kyle Tucker, and wife ReithAnne Schuenke, Brett Rice Tucker, and partner Cathy Dunn, Elizabeth Keakealani Tucker, Janice Nalani Tucker, her 33 grandchildren, with their 21 spouses, and 56 great grandchildren and their 1 spouse, numerous family and friends in Hawaii and all over the world. A treasured, ever-growing progeny! Due to the pandemic, and as per our mother’s request, we will have a private, immediate family only service at Bevis Funeral Home, on January 22, 2021, with a live stream at 1:00 p.m. Please feel free to view the live streamed service leaving memories and thoughts, at your convenience, on the Bevis webpage at www.bevisfh.com. A huge THANK YOU goes out to Todd Wahlquist and Bevis Funeral Home (850-385-2193) for assisting our family with our mother’s needs, and handling the arrangements with dignity and grace! With much Aloha from the Tucker’s! Mahalo Nui!
