Henrietta Ellison Stevens, age 82, passed peacefully Thursday, November 25, 2021 at her Tallahassee home. Mrs. Stevens was born to Henry Samuel Ellison, Jr. and Mae Godwin Ellison in Montgomery, Alabama in 1939 and raised in Dothan, Alabama. She attended both Auburn University and Florida State University. She started her career as the Administrative Assistant to Allen Morris, Clerk of the House of Representatives, where she was in charge of House documents. In 1976, she married Thomas A. “Tommy” Stevens, Sr. and they moved to the Florida Keys in 1978. She was Co-Owner of Key West Insurance, Inc with her husband. There she also served as the Deputy Director of The Private Industry Council of the Florida Keys and also was a member of the Board of Directors of the Florida Keys Hospital System. Henrietta was a purveyor of fine things, an admirer of nature, and a loving wife, mother, Nana, Grand Nana and Boo-Boo. Survivors include her son, John Walker Morgan, IV (Chris) of Tallahassee; step-children, Thomas A. Stevens, Jr. (Karen) of Mims; Hayes Warren Stevens (Arlene), Nancy Stevens, Mary Lou Smisek (George) and Laura Schrader (Terry) of Dade City; grandchildren, Emma, Carson, Anna, Hayes, Austin, Shanna, Dixie, Laura Lee, Tom, Katelan and Jacob and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. Stevens and grandsons John Thomas Morgan and Luke Schrader. The family of Mrs. Stevens would like to extend a heartfelt gratitude to the Visiting Angels for their companionship, love and care ensuring Henrietta’s comfort prior to her passing. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at Bevis Funeral Home, 200 John Knox Road in Tallahassee. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 at the funeral home with interment at Oakland Cemetery.
