    Jane W. Ball

    November 24, 1927 - February 6, 2022

Jane W. Ball, age 94 of Tallahassee, passed away on February 6, 2022. A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at Bevis Funeral Home, 200 John Knox Road, with a reception immediately following. For those who are unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed at https://www.bevisfh.com/obituaries/Jane-Ball-3/#!/PhotosVideos Jane was born Nancy Jane Woody on November 24, 1927, to Elijah and Ester Woody in Thomasville, GA. Soon after her birth the family moved to Cairo, GA. After graduating from Cairo High School in 1944, she moved to Tallahassee and worked for the Sun Oil Company. On May 5, 1951, she married Clive (Joe) Ball, Jr. Their marriage lasted 67 years. They had two children, Kenneth Dwayne and Nan Kay. Jane and Joe lived for 25 years in Tallahassee before moving to Havana in 1974 after they purchased Havana Ford. Jane took great pride in raising her two children while Joe worked hard to grow the successful dealership. Over the years, Jane and Joe were able to travel extensively through their association with the Ford Motor Company. Abroad and at home Jane was the consummate southern lady: pleasant, soft spoken with a backbone of steel. Jane and Joe split their time between St. Marks, FL and Havana. Later they purchased a home at Alligator Point where they enjoyed weekends with friends and neighbors. Jane hosted many pleasant gatherings on the beautiful porch of her Alligator Point home. Many an adult beverage was enjoyed, including Jane's signature Jack and diet ginger. In 2014 the Balls moved from Havana to Westminster Oaks while continuing their weekends at Alligator Point. Jane enjoyed gardening, reading, having cocktails with friends, fish fries, and being with her three grandchildren. Jane was predeceased in 2018 by her husband. She is survived by her son Kenneth Dwayne (Kim), her daughter Nan Hicks, and her grandchildren Haley Elizabeth Ball, Zachery Kenneth Ball and Skylar Marie Ball. Kelly Barber of Bevis Funeral Home (850-385-2193 or www.bevisfh.com) is assisting the Ball family with their arrangements.
