John W. Gerhardt

July 12, 1971 - February 11, 2022

John Wenham Gerhardt, 50, of Crawfordville passed away at home suddenly on February 11, 2022, surrounded by his family and loved ones. John was born in Elkhart, Indiana but spent most of his life as a resident of Wakulla County. John is survived by his mother, Carol L. Gerhardt, his sisters, Amy Lashley and Annie Kendall (James Kendall), his daughter, Destiny N. Savage and grandson, Milo J. Savage, and his son, Elijah (Eli) Gerhardt. John was also survived by nine nieces and nephews, and seven great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Donald Gerhardt. John was a long-time employee of Wakulla County maintaining parks and facilities. John enjoyed reading and playing video games. He enjoyed catching the sunrises in the mornings at Shell Point Beach and collecting seashells. The Wakulla County Public Library was also one of his favorite hangout spots. He thought the ladies at the library were the sweetest and because of them, his favorite books were always readily available. He deeply loved and cared for this county. He will be dearly missed and always remembered. In place of traditional services, there will be a Pot-Luck Celebration of Life held in John’s honor.
