Johnny Michael Smith Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Johnny Michael Smith, 75, loving husband, father, and J-pa, went into eternal rest on May 18, 2022. He was born April 9, 1947, in Bainbridge, GA and was a long-time resident of Tallahassee, FL. He served proudly in the U.S. Army and later graduated from Florida State University. He went on to enjoy a successful career in Finance including time at the Florida Lottery and the Florida Bar Association. Johnny was easy-going, funny and quiet, making him well-liked by all who met him. As an avid golfer, he loved his time at Killearn Country Club, all things Seminoles, and also enjoyed traveling with friends and family from the lakes of Canada to the beaches of Bermuda and Martha’s Vineyard. He is survived by his dedicated and loving wife Sandra Young Smith; daughters Shana Smith Miller (Billy), Catherine McCarthy (Jeremiah); grandchildren Stella Miller, Evren and Gannon McCarthy; siblings James H. Smith (Jerry), and Carolyn Smith Welch (Andy). Johnny also leaves behind a host of extended family members and friends that will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents Jules and Edna Cochran and siblings Harold Smith, Carl Smith, Laverne Smith Goodwin and Ruth Smith Shuford. The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to Dr. Jeffrey Crooms and Dr. Michael Forsthoefel who cared for him selflessly and professionally as both friends and doctors. A graveside service, with Honor Guard, will be held at Tallahassee National Cemetery Thursday, May 26, 2022, at 2:00 P.M.
