Marilyn Gustin Maud

On January 15, 2022 Our Earthly Angel Took Her Final Flight… a Flight to Heaven. Her life was one of loving, giving, sharing, caring and sacrifice for her family. She had a magnetic personality and always had a smile on her face. She was well known for her witty and charming sense of humor. Marilyn was a professional nurse and she exemplified all aspects of the meaning of the word nurse: Nurturing, Understanding, Resourceful, Sharing and Energetic. She was a professional whose life was focused on the health, safety and welfare of the citizens in various cities. She accomplished all of this during her employment as a nurse clinician and nursing professor. As a nursing professor, Marilyn taught, prepared, and inspired nursing students at several universities and colleges. She taught at Morehead State University, Ky, Tallahassee Community College and Florida State University. Marilyn was employed by the Florida Department of Health for twenty-five years. Her job encompassed many aspects of public health nursing and numerous leadership positions and responsibilities at both the state and county levels. She was a nursing specialist and consultant, program specialist and manager, senior nursing supervisor and an executive nursing director. She was instrumentally involved with the development and implementation of statewide nursing policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines that had a direct impact on public health nursing throughout the State of Florida. Marilyn was a founding and an active member of a local Philanthropic Education Organization (PEO). PEO promotes education of women through the provision of scholarships, grants and loans with the expectation that the recipients will return to their community to make a positive impact. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Patricia Wells; brother Harry Gustin; and grand-daughter Madison Ahlman. Marilyn leaves to cherish her memories: Her Loving and Devoted Husband William G, Maud, Jr.; daughters Cheryl Garrison (Mike) and Valerie Maud; grand-daughters Diane Langston (Daniel) and Shelby Ahlman; grand-son Michael H. Garrison; a great-granddaughter; three great-grandsons; and An amazing aunt Ada Dargie (101 years old). Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 27, 2022 at East Hill Baptist Church with burial to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Tallahassee National Cemetery.
