Mary Jane Gressman Amos

Mary Jane Gressman Amos was born in Chicago, Illinois, to the union of Leila (Gressmann) and Joseph Bostick. She grew up in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, where she graduated from high school. She married Robert Amos in 1940. They subsequently moved to Racine, Wisconsin. Her husband worked as a deputy sheriff for the Racine County Sheriffs Department and Mary worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Richard Haley. In 1959 Mary and her family moved to Eau Gallie, Florida, where her husband began working on the Eau Gallie Police Department and Mary began her career with the City of Eau Gallie working in the city hall. In 2011 Mary moved to Tallahassee, Florida, where she was residing at the time of her death on December 27, 2021. She was 101 years of age. In her retirement Mary enjoyed doll making and quilting. She hand sewed beautiful quilts for her 3 children and all of her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband, a granddaughter and a son-in-law. She is survived by her daughter, Sally Stewart (Billy) of Tallahassee; sons, Michael (JoAnn) of Melbourne, and Randy (Becky) of Tallahassee, 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
