Mason L. Batson

April 1, 1970 - March 11, 2022

Mason L. Batson, age 51, passed away far too soon on March 11, 2022 in Tallahassee, Florida. He was born in Melbourne, Florida on April 1, 1970 to parents David Edward Batson, Sr. and Elaine Naomi Lynch Batson. His family later moved to the Florida Keys where he attended Island Community Christian High School. Upon settling in Tallahassee, Mason proudly joined the Leon County Sheriff’s Office as a corrections officer and dedicated over 20 years before his early retirement due to his declining health. Although Mason’s life was short, it was full. He had an adventurous spirit and a profound sense of humor. His positive attitude and determination allowed him to create countless memories with those he loved, doing what he loved: going on road trips, camping, shooting, scuba diving, spear fishing and just enjoying the great outdoors. Mason’s thirst for adventure emerged during his childhood because of his Dad, who always made it a priority to expose his family to as many new experiences as possible. Survivors include his adoring mother, Elaine Naomi Batson; brother David E. Batson, Jr. (Christina); nephews David E. Batson, III and Robert “Bobby” Batson; nieces Danielle Batson, Renee Batson and last but not least, his precious fur babies Zelda and Stormer. Mason also leaves behind a host of extended family members and friends who will remember him fondly and miss him deeply. He was preceded by his father, David E. Batson, Sr., in 2009. The family will be receiving guests for a visitation at Bevis Funeral Home of Tallahassee on Thursday, March 17, 2022 from the hours of 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Mason will later be interred in his family’s plot at Arlington Cemetery of Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania.
