Patricia Ann Capps Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Patricia was born to Ira Bearl Capps and Margaret Ellen Capps on February 17, 1948 in Jackson, Mississippi. She spent her childhood in Jacksonville, FL, and moved to Mountain Brook, AL in 1961. She attended Shades Valley High School where she was a member of the vocal ensemble, graduating from Shades Valley in 1966. Patricia attended the University of Alabama and Jacksonville University where she studied English Literature and Mathematics. After graduating from Jacksonville University in 1971, she went to work at Bellsouth as a Junior Engineer. In 1987, she earned her Executive MBA from Jacksonville University. Throughout her professional career, Patricia volunteered for the Junior Achievement program, inspiring youth to succeed. She retired from AT&T (Bellsouth) in 2001 as a Project Manager (Engineering and Operations). One of the highlights of her professional career was the opportunity to attend Space Camp in Huntsville, AL as part of a leadership team from Bellsouth. Patricia was an accomplished and talented singer. An avid reader and lover of music, art, and literature. She possessed a generous spirit, kind heart, and curious intellect. A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, sister, and friend. Her beautiful and loving spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Patricia is survived by her daughter, Amy Elizabeth Harvey; Granddaughter, Sullivan Olivia Connell; Son-in-law, Matthew McGrath; Nieces, Joanna Harrison and Karen Wilhite (Jason); Grand-niece, Ann Wesley Harrison; Grand-nephew’s, Sam Harrison and Storm Wilhite; Brother-in-law, Ralph Wesley; as well as many cousins and friends that were dearly loved. Shortly after Patricia’s passing, her dear sister Carol Wesley passed away. They walked each other home. A celebration of Patricia’s life will be held in Birmingham, AL and will be announced once arrangements are made.
