Patricia "Patti" Mary Anderson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

The world lost a bright light on May 23rd, 2022 when Patricia Gookin Anderson, "Patti" to everyone, was reunited with her husband and soulmate who passed away earlier. Patti was born in Massachusetts 90 years earlier to Francis & Gertrude Gookin, the oldest of 4 children; she tried to keep her three younger brothers in line for all her life. After getting married at 22, she and Gordon lived in New York & Michigan before settling in St. Petersburg, FL in 1974. They shared a love of sailing on their boat Shantih and were members of St. Petersburg Yacht Club where Patti was also a member of the Salty Sisters sailing club. After Gordon's untimely passing in 1982, Patti found strength and continued to have a joy for life. She enjoyed traveling abroad (China, London, Hong Kong etc) and visiting family wherever they might be around the country. She followed her daughter and her family to Tallahassee, where she made a home for over 20 years. Patti served as a “second mom” and grandmother to all of her kids' and grandchildren's friends, Patti was a fixture at FSU and local sporting events, recitals, school events and anything else that she was a requested presence at. She enjoyed spending time with family at dinners and of course, shop for the newest accessory or most in- style outfit. If you knew Patti, you knew that Maine was a special place as well. Dividing her time among her 2 brother's cottages, she finally got her own place, where she could host another generation of Maine lovers, and for that we are forever grateful. Patti was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gordon, and brothers Frank Gookin & Charles Gookin. She will be profoundly missed by her entire family: Brother Kenneth (Sue) Gookin; Sister-in-law, Kathy Gookin; Daughter Kim (Bob) Flack; Daughter Kelly (David) Ganz; Son Jeffrey (Nora Hampton) Anderson; Niece Karen Gookin; Nephew Chris Gookin; Niece Stacy (John) Stevens; Todd (Susan) Gookin; by all 9 Grandchildren including Megan Flack; Courtney (Adam) Starling; Gordon Flack; Alexa Ganz (John Zayas-fiancé); Adriana Ganz; Joel Anderson (Aryana); Shane Anderson; Wyatt Hacker; and Garrett Hacker. This year she was thrilled to meet her 1st great-grandchild this year, Clarissa Starling. The family would like to sincerely thank all the Visiting Angels and employees of Big Bend Hospice who made her last weeks on earth comfortable and secure. The celebration of Patti’s life will be held at 11:30 AM, Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Bevis Funeral Home Chapel, 200 John Knox Road, Tallahassee, FL 32303.
