Shirley L. Krishef

September 11, 1928 - October 3, 2021

Shirley L. Krishef 93, of Tallahassee, Florida passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, October 3, 2021 comforted by her daughters, Marcie and Wendy. Shirley was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on September 11, 1928 to Esther and Morton Porges. As a young child, she sang professionally on the radio. As a teenager, one of Shirley's favorite pastimes was spending Saturdays at the movie theater with her cousin. She attended the University of Minnesota and graduated with a degree in Nursing in 1948. Shortly thereafter she married Curtis Krishef and they lived a happy and fulfilled life together until he passed away in 1995. Shirley loved to volunteer. She was active in her daughters' Girl Scout Troops and school PTAs. She is a past member of Temple Israel. For the past several decades she's been a member of Shomrei Torah Congregation. In her early years she served as Sisterhood President, Catering Chairperson, and leader of the Kol Nidre prayer on high holidays. Shirley is survived by her daughters, Marcie Haynes and Wendy Cooley, Grandchildren, Deanna Haynes, Bret Haynes, Ashley Blakemore and Kyle Norris, her nine Great-Grandchildren, her niece, Helen Powell of Houston, Texas, and her cousin Margie Marks of Minneapolis, MN. After the passing of her husband, Shirley spent her life singing and performing for the seniors at Elder Care Services, the Lions Club, Mississippi River Boat Cruise Line, Ladies Red Hat Society and Breast Cancer Awareness. She modeled for local ladies' clothing stores and had a passion for shoes. Her early love of the cinema lasted her lifetime and resulted in her becoming an avid fan of the Turner Classics Movie Channel. She also enjoyed crewel embroidery and reading while spending time at home. Throughout her lifetime Shirley had a close circle of family members and friends who remained in her heart until the end. These relationships helped sustain her and continued to bring joy to her at the end of her life. The Funeral Service will be held at Roselawn Cemetery in Tallahassee, FL on Thursday, October 7th at 11:00 AM.
