November 21, 1954 - August 2, 2021
Trudie Martha Doornbos Bell was born on November 21, 1954 to Marcus A. Doornbos and Charlotte Macy Doornbos in Bozeman Montana. Trudie was born into a Dutch immigrant family and was one of the youngest of the second generation. Trudie grew up on a ranch in Montana with her younger brother Richard (Butch). They grew up driving tractors, riding horses and hunting in the mountains. She and her family moved off the ranch to Belgrade, Montana when she was a teenager. Trudie attended school in both Belgrade and Bozeman Montana. Trudie attended Montana State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Zoology. Trudie met her husband William M Bell III in Russian language class. Bill had decided that he was going to marry Trudie after their first date and after a short courtship they were engaged. Trudie and Bill married December 22, 1979. They moved to Tallahassee with a plan to only stay for five years. Trudie’s first job in the Tallahassee area was at Olin which would later become St. Mark’s powder plant. After her oldest son was born Trudie was hired by The Florida Department of Natural Resources which became DEP, in environmental permitting. Trudie spent the remainder of her career after DEP working in the environmental field in one capacity or another. Trudie and Bill among other things were diligently involved in family history work and taught genealogy weekly at the Latter-Day Saints genealogical Center. Together they have compiled a comprehensive family history including 44,444 different individuals dating as far back as 200 BC. Trudie is survived by her husband William Bell retired State of Florida environmental administrator, her three children (Bill, Kellen, KC) and daughter in law Ana and grandchildren (Liam and Mila). Trudie also leaves a legacy of love behind in the many people that grew up in her home as well, to one extent or another and knew her also as mom. They are not alone in their grief, because Trudie leaves a legacy of service and love. Trudie died August 2, 2021 in Tallahassee Florida surrounded by her family at TMH hospital. Her memorial service will be August 7th at 2pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Stake Center, 5347 Buck Lake Road, Tallahassee, FL.
