Vonnie Lee Long “Nanny” Marsh, 88, widow of Cecil Legette Marsh, entered Heaven in peace on Monday, January 3, 2022. Vonnie was born in Andrews, South Carolina, a daughter of the late James "Jim" H. Long and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Thomas Long. She was an identical twin to the late Vermie Long Bodiford and attended Andrews High School. Meeting and soon marrying the love of her life, both began life together creating a familial legacy that does and will continue to extend for future generations. Together, they had three sons and one daughter. Vonnie was a dedicated and supportive wife and loving mother while her husband proudly served his country for 21 years retiring at the rank of Chief Master Sgt. from the United States Air Force. Vonnie enjoyed caring for her family, cooking, sewing, decorating, and working in the garden, nurturing her beautiful flowers. She retired after a number of years as a Florist. She was a devoted member of Aenon Baptist Church, where she served her church as a Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School Teacher, and as a member of the Women's Ministry. Vonnie was a guiding light to her entire family and all who knew her. Her strong sense of family along with her quick wit, humor, and wisdom will be dearly missed. In addition to her late husband of 60 years, Vonnie was preceded in death by her two sons and daughter-in-law, Cliff (Lisa) Marsh and Bruce Marsh. Vonnie is survived by two children, her son, Steve (Lisa) Marsh and her daughter Susan (Danny), all of Tallahassee; five grandchildren, Julie Bowser (Kouji) of Punta Gorda, Melisa McFee of St. Augustine, Amanda Mahoney (Dylan), Ashley Davis (Terry), Eli Sweeney (Megan), all of Tallahassee; ten great-grandchildren, Kayla, Baylee, Evan, Dylan, Morgan, Drake, Ariel, Jonah, Tyson, and Axel; a brother, Joe Weldon Long (Patricia) of Georgetown; and a sister, Ethel "Nealy" L. Ethridge of Crawfordville. The funeral service will be at 3:00PM on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Bevis Funeral Home, 200 John Knox Road in Tallahassee. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
