William Wright Kappes

William Wright Kappes (Bill), age 75, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022. Bill was born in Evanston, Illinois, on April 15, 1946, and moved to Ft. Lauderdale in 1956. Bill served in the Army and was in Vietnam from 1966-1967, where he made ‘brothers’ for a lifetime. After he was discharged, he worked mostly in the automotive business in Ft. Lauderdale and Pompano Beach until moving to Tallahassee with his wife Sandy in 1996. In 1998, he was part of starting the 585th Engineer Company Vietnam Association, where men were found that had served together and some of these men became life-long friends. In Tallahassee he and his wife became very active at Trinity United Methodist Church where he shared his gift of voice and service to others. In 2019, they began attending Wildwood Church and became involved immediately because of the reception they received. Bill never met a stranger, warmed hearts with his smile and always tried to walk the walk of his faith. He loved his family and grandchildren. Bill is survived by his wife of 33 years Sandy. His daughters Michelle Camandona and Linda Lieblong. And 4 grandchildren, Michael Lieblong, Megan Lieblong (Ryan), Christian and Carter Camandona. He is also survived by many other family members and very close friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Wildwood Church. Their address is 100 Ox Bottom Road, Tallahassee. The rendering of military honors will be at noon, Friday, February 4, at the Tallahassee National Cemetery.
