Allie Arline Allen Hertz

Arline was born in Mount Vernon, Ohio on July 7, 1923 and went to be with her Heavenly Father on August 10, 2017. She spent most of her childhood in the Albion, Michigan area. She was the daughter of Roy Howard Allen and Mamie Bacon Allen. Arline had two brothers, Garald of Venice, FL and Jack (deceased). Arline was the devoted, loving wife to Joseph Charles Hertz, marrying him in Lawrence, Kansas on October 17, 1944. After 54 years of marriage, he passed away on October 31, 1998. Joe and Arline had seven children that they loved and cared for. Joseph C. Hertz, Jr. of Tallahassee, Thomas Leroy Hertz (Laura) of Tallahassee, Mary Ann Hertz Swerdzewski (Dr. Frank) of Tallahassee, Robert John Hertz (Karen) of Maryville, IL, Gregory Vincent Hertz (deceased), Celeste Marie Hertz of Alton, IL and Michael Gerard Hertz (deceased). In addition to their seven children, Arline and Joe had twelve grandchildren, Jodi and Carl Joseph Hertz, Danny and Andreas Hertz, Thadd (Jennifer) Swerdzewski, Zach Swerdzewski, Stas (Shannon) Swerdzewski, Michael Hertz (Gretchen), Meredith Hertz Woody (Jason), Melissa Hertz Keller (J.R.), Gregory Hertz (Ania) and Celine Hertz (Lorianna). Arline had fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and two former daughters-in-law, Helga Hoppe and Carol Hodson. She was loved by many and enjoyed her 94 years on this earth. Arline graduated from Southern Illinois University with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught at St. Bernard’s Catholic School in Wood River, Illinois and also at Trinity Catholic School in Tallahassee. She loved music and historical books and was a devout catholic. As a convert to the catholic religion, she was an amazing lady of faith. She will be greatly missed by her children and family. Her family would like to thank all the amazing people at Westminster Oaks who lovingly cared for her these last ten years. They would also like to thank Big Bend Hospice for all of their support. Memorial gifts may be made in Aline’s name to Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 4665 Thomasville Road, Tallahassee, FL 32309 or Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308. The funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church with a reception following in the Parish Community Center.
