Brian Nelson Durrance

Our hearts ache for the loss of our son and brother, Brian Nelson Durrance, who passed away on Tuesday, January 30 in Altamont Springs, Florida. He was 48 years old. Brian was born to Connie Dee and Joseph Oscar Durrance in Tallahasse on August 8, 1975. He was the fourth of ten children and one of five sons. He was a kind, gentle soul who loved his family, his friends, and his cat, Toby. Brian grew up in Tallahassee and attended Leon High School. Living in Tallahassee, and as a member of the Durrance family, Brian developed a love for all things Florida State, which included collecting shirts, blankets, and socks that displayed his favorite team’s logo. Brian enjoyed playing Xbox with his friends and brothers, and he also had a passion for music. In fact, when Brian was young, one of his Sunday School teachers even commented that Brian was her loudest singer. Clearly, his interest in music began at a young age and was an important part of his life. Brian would call his mother, sister, or friends with a new song or the lyrics of a favorite song, often sharing why the words were so important to him. Reggae music and the band, Stick Figures, were among his favorites. Brian also enjoyed attending concerts with his friends, and they have many good memories of their time spent with Brian at these events. In the past several years, Brian also became interested in online sales. He spent endless hours researching all aspects of opening and operating an Amazon store. Brian truly enjoyed all aspects of running this venture and was very proud that he was able to grow it into a profitable business. It is difficult right now to express how sad we feel and how much his voice and daily phone calls will be missed. We know that as he passed through the veil of this life, he was greeted into the loving arms of his baby brother, Jonathan, his grandparents, and his Savior. We want to thank all those who love Brian for your kind words and prayers for his parents, siblings, and friends. Though it is difficult, we know that our Heavenly Father is with us. We will feel at peace in the knowledge and understanding of our Savior’s love as we come to terms with our loss. Brian was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Services will be held at his childhood chapel, located at 3717 Thomasville Rd, on Saturday, February 10th at 11:00 am. A dedication of the grave site will be held at Tallahassee Memory Gardens on 4037 N. Monroe Street immediately following the service.
