Harold Lamar Parker Jr.

We are heartbroken to announce that Harold Lamar Parker Jr, 67, of Tallahassee, FL entered into rest on May 12, 2023. After a year-long battle with cancer he passed peacefully at home with his children and devoted wife by his side. Born and raised in Tallahassee, FL, Harold married the love of his life, Lisa, on June 14, 1980. Harold recently retired from the Leon County School Board in January 2023. Harold’s Christian faith was an essential part of his life. His firm belief in God gave him amazing peace during his lifetime. Harold was an avid lover of music (especially the Blues), an exceptionally talented musician and guitar luthier, and enjoyed spending countless hours playing his guitars. Harold held many titles in his life, but his two favorite titles were husband and father. He loved nothing more than spending time with his wife and children. Harold had the most extraordinarily beautiful soul, with the ability to befriend every individual he met. Ensuring he was always a kind, compassionate and generous human being was of the utmost importance to Harold, and he certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving and caring for his wife, children, family and friends. In addition to his wife (Lisa Parker), daughter (Amy Parker) and son (Harold Lamar Parker III “Trey”), he is survived by his mother-in-law, Alma Henley, and father-in-law, James Henley, brothers Roy Parker (Betty Carol), Dennis Parker (Mary K), and Brian Parker Sr (Susan), along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in eternal life by his father, Harold Lamar Parker Sr, and mother, Elsie Vorheese Parker. Harold will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, uncle & friend to all. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Bevis Funeral Home. A funeral service for Harold will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Seminole Baptist Church and interment will follow at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Contributions in Harold’s memory may be made to UF Health Shands Cancer Hospital; Big Bend Hospice; or Seminole Baptist Church.
