Ira John Sites Sr.

Ira John Sites Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully departed this world on July 13, 2026, at the age of 83. He was lovingly surrounded by his devoted wife and daughter at their home, a testament to the profound love and care that defined his life. Born on January 11, 1943, in Canton, Ohio, Ira was the cherished son of Clara and George Sites. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, as well as his dear siblings Fannie Smith, Swinton Sites, Thaymer Sites, and George William Sites. Ira's life was a testament to hard work, perseverance, and dedication. He began his career as a mechanic at Mercedes, where he honed his skills and developed a passion for automobiles. Through sheer determination and relentless effort, Ira eventually realized his dream of owning his own repair and body shop. His work was not just a means of livelihood but a true expression of his craftsmanship and love for the art of mechanics. On December 8, 1960, Ira married the love of his life, Eloise, in a beautiful ceremony in Donaldsonville, Georgia. Their enduring partnership was blessed with a family that became the cornerstone of Ira's existence. Ira is survived by his beloved wife Eloise, his devoted daughter Sherry Massey, and his sons Ira John Sites Jr. (married to Tonya) and Edward Sites. He also leaves behind his brother-in-law Wayne Ellis and his brother Lowell Zane Sites (married to Cree). Ira's legacy is lovingly carried forward by his eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, each of whom he cherished deeply. His family was a source of immense pride and joy, and he treasured every moment spent in their company. Beyond his professional achievements and family life, Ira was a man of varied interests. He found great joy in gold prospecting and had a passion for building motorcycles. These hobbies were not just pastimes but reflections of his adventurous spirit and his love for the open road and the treasures of the earth. Ira's life was a rich tapestry of love, laughter, and meaningful experiences. He touched the lives of many with his kindness, humor, and generosity. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Ira John Sites Sr. will be immensely missed but never forgotten. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends, and he will be remembered as a beacon of love and strength. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at Bevis Funeral Home, 200 John Knox Rd. Tallahassee, FL. The funeral service will at 11:00 AM and the interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Quincy, FL.
