James Clifton Nichols

James Clifton Nichols (Cliff) arrived in his heavenly home on September 10, 2021. He was born December 15, 1928, to Joe and Daisy Nichols. He served in the US Air Force, travelled the country in a big rig driving for McKenzie Tank Lines, and delivered heavy equipment for many years at Jackson Cook, from which he retired. He was a deacon at Crossway Baptist Church for many years and he simply adored his Crossway Famil He loved building and repairing things and just “tinkering”. He was very proud of the house boat that he hand-crafted (along with a lot of help from loving family members). We can recall many weekend hours spent at Ralph and Trudy’s house while Daddy and Ralph worked on the boat well into the night. Once it was finished, it was fantastic! Our family spent many, many hours on the water fishing, swimming, water skiing and just being together. Great times were had and we are all surely thankful for these memories. He also loved his garden and took great pride in his tomato plants and his scuppernong grapes. He would always have a sack of grapes ready for anyone that stopped by to visit. We were all quite happy to scoot along home with our bag of scuppernong grapes and it always left a big smile on Paw Paw’s face. Cliff is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Lessie Jean Nichols; his parents, Joe and Daisy Nichols; his brothers Johnnie, Willie, Gordon, Nels, Pat, Frank, and Ned, and sister Maggie Crum. He is survived by his children James “Jimmy” Nichols, Rheben “Mitch” Nichols, Kathryn Brown, Joseph Nichols, Ken Nichols, Kellye Connell, 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Affectionately known as “Paw Paw” by family and friends, he was loved by everyone he met. He will be greatly missed and his memory cherished. Visitation will be held Friday, September 17, 2021 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at Crossway Baptist Church, 405 Crossway Road, Tallahassee, Florida. Funeral services will follow at Crossway Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m... Burial will be at Bonnet Pond Cemetery, Medart, Florida immediately following the funeral service.
