James H. Wilson

James Wilson, 79, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away peacefully on the lake - exactly where he wanted to be. He was born in Pensacola, Florida, to Frank and Thelma Wilson. As the youngest of four boys, Jimmy carried with him the quiet strength and steady character that would define his life. He graduated from JM Tate High School in 1964, then proudly served his country as a member of the 1st Cavalry Division in the United States Army during Vietnam. Having witnessed some of the worst of humanity during his service, Jimmy made a lifelong choice to live as the best of humanity—kind, steady, and always ready to help someone who needed it. After returning home from the war, he decided to further his education by attending UWF and graduating with a Master’s degree in Psychology. Jimmy’s love and devotion to his wife, Terry, set a standard for what a marriage should be. Their partnership was built on friendship, loyalty, respect, and deep love. Family was the center of Jimmy’s world, and his heart grew each time a grandchild came along. His love for Wesley, Lauren, Sophie, Carson, Riley, Evan, and great grandson, Judah, was immeasurable. Of all the names he’s been called, “Grandaddy” was his favorite. He is preceded in death by the love of his life, Terry; his parents; and brothers Buddy, Tommy, and Bobby. Left to cherish his memory, are his children: Chandra (Jake) Boyd, David (Michele) Fogg, and Skip (Karey) Fogg; grandchildren and great grandson; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Jimmy was also grateful for the steadfast friendship of Bob, whose support and loyalty helped him through some of life’s more difficult challenges. Jimmy loved the game of golf, but the memories that many hold closest are the days spent fishing with him on Lake Talquin. Those moments—quiet water, good company, and Jimmy’s calm presence—captured who he was. There was an ease about him. Jimmy always seemed relaxed, steady, and somehow knew exactly what to say when someone he loved needed advice. As difficult as it is to say goodbye, there is comfort in knowing that Jimmy left this world peacefully, on the water he loved. As much as those who loved him wished for more time, Jimmy chose to let go and say goodbye on his own terms. And in true Jimmy fashion, we imagine his final words echoing across the water: “Fish on!” We will celebrate Jim’s life in the way he would have wanted - at his house on Lake Talquin.
