Marie Colette Tallman

Colette Tallman, age 84, passed away on October 14, 2018 in Tallahassee, Fl. in the loving care of family and the Big Bend Hospice. Marie Colette Lussier Tallman was born in Pennsylvania on November 10, 1933 to Georges H. and Lillian (Anderson) Lussier. She later resided in Marlboro and Allaire, NJ, and graduated from Manasquan High School in 1950, while still sixteen years old. Colette attended Bouve-Boston School (Tufts University) in Medford, Massachusetts, where she majored in physical education and physical therapy. Subsequent to her marriage to Oliver H. (Bob) Tallman II on July 19, 1952, Colette had been employed as a hostess model in Cypress Gardens, Florida and a sales clerk in Dayton, Ohio. She has performed numerous volunteer services for various charitable organization. Colette was a loving military wife and mother, always holding down the household while her husband served our country in the United States Air Force. Colette was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting. Among her hobbies were golf and bowling, for which she received local recognition for her skills in Oak Ridge, TN. Colette moved to Tallahassee in June of 2016, to be close to her daughter, Terry, and son-in-law, Mike Cherniga. Colette resided at Allegro Senior Living, where she had many friends. Colette is predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Oliver H. Tallman II, USAF, Col (retired) and two children. Daniel Robert Tallman died in infancy. Michelle Diane Tallman passed away in 2001. Colette is survived by her children: Cynthia Denise Hazzard, Dayton OH, Kenneth James Tallman, Virginia Beach VA, and Therese Marie (Terry) Tallman Cherniga and son-in-law Michael James Cherniga of Tallahassee FL. Grandchildren: Jacob Scott Frazier (Viviana) of Austin TX, Nicholas Oliver Tallman (Velinda) of Dayton OH, Kara Marie Cherniga Uhl (David) of Seattle WA and Patrick James Cherniga (USA) of Ft. Shafter HI. Great grandchildren: Gregory Scott Frazier, Alyssa Nichole Frazier, Gabriella Michelle Tallman and Elliott Oliver Uhl. Colette had a real joie de vivre that she shared with everyone she met. Colette’s unconditional love for her family, her sweet, spunky attitude and wit, along with her keen intelligence and superb organizational talents will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Interment will be alongside her husband at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at a later date. The family requests that memorials be in the form of donations to Big Bend Hospice, Inc.
