Mary Sue Rowe

Mary Sue Rowe, 83, of Quincy FL, died December 6th, 2025, at Margaret Z Dozier Hospice House with family gathered around. She was born in Los Angeles, California in 1943 to Robert and Doris Henderson. She grew up with her younger brother Steve, or Butch as she called him. Sue attended Raymond Avenue Farm School where she loved to help feed the animals. She graduated from George Washington High School in 1961. Mary Sue married Mark Edrick Sherwood in 1963 and had 2 daughters, Erin Sue LeReche and Kerry Wren Sherwood Thomas. She later divorced and raised the girls on her own, by working as a School Bus Driver and later an Area Bus Supervisor for LA Schools. The girls and Sue loved spending summers traveling and enjoying lots of new places. Sue met the love of her life in a bicycle club, Bernard Rowe. Sue retired from Los Angeles School District and Bernie from advertising. Learning about Jesus from Bernie’s brother, they both gave their lives to Jesus Christ. They were active in bible studies, feeding people, and leading services at reenactment camp outs. They enjoyed life to the fullest, bicycling, reenacting pre-1840’s, shooting, archery, canoeing, and talking about their faith for 40 years until his death. Sue moved to Quincy, FL to live with family and enjoyed playing with great grandchildren, laughing, and music. Sue was preceded in death by Robert Henderson (Father), Doris Vandella Eckstead Henderson (Mother), Bernard Rowe (Husband), Erin Sue LeResche (Daughter). Sue is survived by Kerry and Dave Thomas (Daughter/Son-in-law), Kathryn and Thomas Hoiland (Granddaughter/Husband), Cynthia and Philip Hemingway (Granddaughter/Husband), Andrew and Cait Thomas (Grandson/Wife), James LeResche (Grandson), Zachariah and Melissa Thomas (Grandson/Wife), Joshua and Elisabeth Thomas (Grandson/Wife), Elizabeth Thomas (Granddaughter), Nathanael Thomas (Grandson), and ten great grandchildren. The memorial service will be held February 7th at 2pm at the Thomas Family home. Kelly Barber of Bevis Funeral Home (850-385-2193 or www.bevisfh.com) is assisting the family with their arrangements.
