Patrick O’Sullivan, age 84, passed away peacefully in his Tallahassee home, leaving behind a legacy of faith, family, and unwavering dedication. He was born on December 9, 1941, and grew up in Kilburn, London, England. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Kathleen O’Sullivan. Patrick is survived by his beloved wife, Linda, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage. Their enduring partnership was the foundation of a strong and loving family. He is also survived by his five sons: Mike (wife Victoria) of Tallahassee, John of Tallahassee, Nick of Tallahassee, Richard (wife Taj) of Orlando, and Owen (partner Sarah) of Tallahassee. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Patrick (wife Ansley) of Atlanta, Gabrielle Williams (husband Lael) of Tallahassee, and Ryland of Orlando, along with his great-granddaughter, Corrie-Katherine Williams of Tallahassee. He is also survived by his sister, Mary (husband Collin) of Welwyn, England; his nephew, Kieran and family of Stotfold, England; and his niece, Shiobhan and family of Greens Norton, Northamptonshire, England, along with numerous cousins and extended family who remain in his favorite place on earth, Dingle, Ireland. Patrick served as a professor at Northwestern University, an experience that ultimately led him to Florida State University, where he dedicated 35 years as a professor of geography and later as chair of the department. He was deeply respected by colleagues and students alike for his commitment to education, mentorship, and leadership. Beyond his academic career, Patrick was a founding member of the Tallahassee Soccer Association and remained actively involved in youth soccer development throughout the years. Through Top of Florida, he served as a board member, coach, and proud supporter, rarely missing an opportunity to watch his sons play. He had a lifelong love of reading and was a devoted fan of Manchester United, rarely missing a match and always enjoying the camaraderie and spirit of the game. Above all, Patrick will be remembered for his steadfast Catholic faith, his devotion as a husband, and the deep love and pride he held as a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His family was the center of his life, and his presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 18 at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 653 Miccosukee Rd, Tallahassee, FL 32308, celebrated by Father Pete Zalewski. Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of Patrick’s life following the service at Proof Brewing Company, 1320 S Monroe St, Tallahassee, FL 32301. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Big Bend Hospice and Second Harvest.
