Preston Durrell Dozier

Preston Durrell Dozier, 39 years old, went to be with Jesus on his birthday: January 14, 2026. Preston was born January 14, 1987 to parents Craig and Rhonda Dozier in Tallahassee, Florida. Preston is survived by his children, Jaxon and Nauttia Dozier; fiancée Megan Garrett and her children, Mitchell and Rylan Garret; parents Craig and Rhonda Dozier; grandparents Edsel and Jean Dozier; siblings Porschea, Mercedes, Cole, Trevor, Callie, McKinley, Teila, Autumn, Josiah, Jessa and Asa. Preston also leaves behind nineteen nieces and nephews and one great-nephew. Preston’s friends are far too many to list but are none the less. Preceding Preston in passing is maternal grandmother Hazel Davis, paternal great-grandmother Mauline Dozier and paternal great-grandmother Edna Beagles. Preston obtained his General Education Diploma and many other certifications. His greatest, and most cherished, accomplishment was obtaining his Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV) which provided him the honorable title of “Captain”. As Captain Preston Dozier he chartered many souls to and from the docks of C- Quarters Marina in Carrabelle Florida. Never was an unsatisfied mate aboard his vessel. He was skilled in his voyages and hearty to meet the needs of his vessel. All aboard were sure to want to return. Preston truly loved the outdoors. If he wasn’t found fishing, he was by a campfire in conversation with friends and family. He had a love for tinkering with projects and fixing equipment. Preston was a true problem solver and rose to every occasion of challenge. Preston loved life and could often be found resisting age and pushing the threshold of life out of his way. Known for his practical joking and pranks, he sought laughter, friendship, and love. Lately, you could find him out back of his home walking his chickens on a leash or buying diapers for them. He looked for laughter in everything he did. However, when it came to his work and accountability, he was extremely devoted. All those who knew him knew his devotion to his children. Many who worked with him knew he was highly skilled, direct, and involved in the tasks right along with them. Preston was a devoted father. His children were his pride and joy! He always involved his children in his outdoor adventures. He insisted in them giving thanks to God for their meals and spoke of a better life in heaven. They knew their dad was protective and a great provider. He was very proud of all their school accomplishments and made it a priority for them. In addition to Preston’s memorial service, a maritime ceremony will be held, at a later date, in his honor. His remains will be released into the area he called his “honey hole.” The Gulf of America was where he longed to be at peace. Had he been given a long life, He would have earned, with respect, the credentials of an “old salt.” A celebration of Preston's life will be held at Bevis Funeral Home on Monday, January 26, 2026 at 6:00pm with a reception to follow.
