Shirley Ozbolt Krause

Our loving and caring wife and mother, Shirley Ozbolt Krause, age 84, entered eternal rest surrounded by her family on August 9, 2023. She was born in Headland, AL to Velim Emanuel and Merle (Kelly) Ozbolt. After graduating from Leon High School in 1957, she went on to earn her degree in Nursing from Georgia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in 1960. She returned to Tallahassee and began working at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. One day, Mark saw Shirley and through mutual friend Bartow Rainey, met her and the rest is history. They wed on June 4, 1961, and their love affair continued for 62 years. Shirley loved life and enjoyed traveling with Mark to Europe, Alaska, Costa Rica, and Canada. She and Mark were dedicated to Faith Youth Mission trips and traveled to Haiti, Brazil, and Guatemala. Shirley brought joy wherever she went and to all she met. She dedicated her working years as a nurse in various doctors' offices and for more than seven years as a hospice nurse with Big Bend Hospice, a special calling where she helped others as those who helped her in her final days. At various times in her life, she enjoyed gardening and flower arranging and was a member of the Ivy-Daisy Garden Circle Club, playing bridge with friends, planning high school reunions, serving her church, and cheering on the Seminoles, her favorite college football team. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Velim and Merle Ozbolt, and her brother Johnny Marvin Ozbolt. She is survived by her loving husband, Mark Boyd Krause, her two children, Mary Kay Rutan (Sean}, and Matt Krause (Allyson), and her grandchildren Zachary Hollingsworth (Emilee), Katie Hollingsworth and Katie's fiancé Ethan Butler. In her final years, Tallahassee TLC LLC, owned by Sheryl Burgess, caregivers Tina, "TK", "Meka", Johnifer, Jada, Jackie and others provided loving support and companionship to "Mom", and we are forever grateful to them. A Celebration of Life will be held at Faith Presbyterian Church, 2200 N. Meridian Road, Tallahassee, Florida on Monday, August 14, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to join the Krause family following the service for light refreshments and sharing of memories at their home, 6204 Pisgah Lane, Tallahassee, FL. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Big Bend Hospice, Faith Presbyterian Church, Manna on Meridian, or charity of choice.
