Thor Russell “Rusty” House passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 24, 2026, at his home in Tallahassee, Florida. Rusty was the beloved widower of Darlene Agatha House. Together they shared 19 wonderful years of marriage. Born in Lubbock, Texas, Rusty was the son of the late Jack and Polly House. He faithfully served at Fellowship Baptist Church and WEE Day Care for 31 years before happily retiring on July 6, 2026. He was a devoted member of Freedom Road Christian Ministries on Apalachee Parkway. Rusty found great joy in spending time with his family, gardening, caring for his fish, feeding the homeless, and helping anyone in need. Above all, he will be remembered for his unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, his servant’s heart, his kindness, humility, generosity, and the countless selfless ways he touched the lives of others. Rusty is survived by his children: Joseph House ; Michael House; Joshua (Briana) House; Angelo House; Jordan House; and Jesse House. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Tyler House, Tattiana Borjas, Kayden House, Jacob House, and Peyton House. His sisters Cyndi (Chris) Gilbert, Theresa (George) Crothers, and Elizabeth House. And his 13 and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Darlene House; his parents, Jack and Polly House; and his brother, Timothy House. Though our hearts are broken by his passing, we rejoice knowing that he is now in the presence of his Savior, Jesus Christ. His legacy of faith, compassion, and service will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Bevis Funeral Home, 200 John Knox Road, Tallahassee, Florida. The funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. A private graveside service for the family will take place following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Freedom Road Christian Ministries in honor of Rusty’s life and legacy of faith and service.
