Virginia Renn Randolph Edenfield

Virginia Renn Randolph Edenfield passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, in the presence of her husband and two sons. Renn was born March 12, 1952, in Apalachicola, Florida, the third child of Cleve and Smiles Randolph. She had a quintessential childhood centered on the values of faith, family, and Southern traditions - a true pearl of Apalachicola. Through St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, she grew strong in the Catholic faith and practiced it her whole life. She graduated from Apalachicola’s Chapman High School in 1970 and attended Florida State University, studying education, joining Alpha Delta Pi sorority, and graduating early in 1973. She married Gary Edenfield on July 13, 1974, at St. Patrick’s, and they recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. They had two sons, Marcus and Jacob, and five grandchildren. ReRe brought love and joy to every family occasion. She orchestrated family get-togethers with amazing spreads of food and cheer. Her grandchildren especially loved her special touches on Christmas morning. She and Gary were devoted members of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, coordinating the Engaged Encounter program for the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee in the 1980s. At Blessed Sacrament, she assisted with religious education for many years, and watched each of her grandchildren take their first communion and grow in their faith. She was a beloved middle school English Language Arts teacher in Leon County for over twenty years with a penchant for creative writing. She was named the 2000 Cobb Middle School Teacher of the Year and was a finalist for the school district winner. She retired in 2016 as the English Language Arts test development lead for the State of Florida. Students and colleagues will remember her expertise, kindness, and going the extra mile beyond the walls of her classroom. Renn’s gifts of hospitality and generosity are renowned among her friends and family. She loved to host and entertain, making all events memorable and special through attention to every detail. From the moment each guest walked through the door, they were embraced by the ambiance and beauty she created. Her bright eyes and warm smile welcomed guests and made them feel instantly part of her family. She spent one of her last weeks at the family beach house at St. George Island celebrating long-held Fourth of July traditions and watching incredible sunsets. She is survived by her devoted husband Gary - her steadfast companion and caregiver, a testament to love in action. She is also survived by her loving sons Marcus (Holly) and Jacob of Tallahassee; adoring grandchildren Lucas, Sally Kate, Sophia, Moore, and Wyatt; brother Cleveland Weems Randolph Jr. (Laura) of Jacksonville, Florida; sister Rhonda Hart (Gary) of Dothan, Alabama; brother-in-law Harry Braswell of Crawfordville, Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. She is predeceased by her parents Cleveland Weems and Veneita F. “Smiles” Randolph, her sister Reba Braswell, and aunts and uncles Sally and Billy Howell and Jean and Fritz FitzGerald. A funeral mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Capital Campaign for Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and Trinity Catholic School.
