Wanda Lynn Post

Wanda Lynn Post, 66, died late Christmas Day at her home in Tallahassee. She was a generous and loving mother, grandmother, stepmother, step-grandmother, sister-in-law and friend. A proud “Army brat,” Wanda was born at Fort Knox, Kentucky, to Giesele and Thomas Henry Seacrist. Her mother was German, and Wanda had many happy childhood memories of time spent with Oma and Opa when her family was stationed in Germany. She had similarly happy memories of her Nana in West Virginia. Her grandparents and her parents predeceased her, as did her sister, Patty Burley. Wanda held a variety of jobs throughout her life, including working in finance, customer service and retail. In 2009, an old high school classmate from North Hardin High School in Radcliff, Kentucky, reached out to her on Facebook. Over the course of several months, they reconnected and discovered each had a crush on the other in high school that neither ever expressed. They clicked. They sparked. In early 2011, they married. Wanda and Marvin Post Jr., affectionately known as Butch, had had only four years together when he died of cancer in summer of 2014, but both treasured every minute they had. On Jan. 1, 2015, Wanda officially moved to Tallahassee with dogs Daisy and Jesse at the invitation of her sister-in-law, and she spent the last 11 years of her life in Florida’s capital city. For the final seven years, she worked as a sales associate at World Market, where she loved her colleagues and customers and they loved her in return. She truly lived the saying, “In a world where you can be anything, be kind.” She is survived by son Michael Stevens, his spouse Erica and their two daughters, Alyssa and Chloe, of Champaign, Illinois; son Brian James Stevens, his spouse Kellie and their two children; stepdaughter Rebecca Jean “Becky” Post Coleman and her two sons, Bryan and Austin, of LaGrange, Kentucky; niece Tammie Likens and her husband, Desi, of Jackson, Tennessee; her sister-in-law and housemate of 11 years, Audrey Post of Tallahassee; and her special friend and father figure, “Papa Bill” Dickson of Vine Grove, Kentucky. A Celebration of Wanda’s Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 2198 N. Meridian Road in Tallahassee, followed by lunch in the church’s Hingst Memorial Fellowship Hall. Casual attire requested, as Wanda was a "jeans and T-shirts gal" and would want everyone to be comfortable. A copy of the livestream will be posted on the church’s YouTube page, On Tuesday, Jan. 20, the family will commit her ashes to Butch’s grave at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville, Georgia, fulfilling Wanda’s request to be taken “back to Butch” when her time came. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made in her memory to Wounded Warriors or Tunnels 2 Towers, which serve military veterans in need, or organizations that lower spay and neuter costs for pets, as well as feral cat colonies, such as Be the Solution.
