Our Story
Learn our story, from the beginning and into the future.
Ever since we opened our doors we have approached life (and death) differently. While some just see the end of a loved one’s life as a time for grief and mourning, we prefer to think of it as a time for reflection, appreciation and even celebration. This is evident in everything we do, from the way we conduct our services to the amenities we choose to offer. We are not a burial ground. We are a close knit community dedicated to honoring, sharing and preserving the amazing and inspirational stories that are life.
Why Us?
In a nutshell? Experience, professionalism, compassion, and empathy.
We've learned a lot over many years. Like how to present options without overwhelming. And how to meet the needs of many caring parties. People come to us in difficult times, and we respond with kindness, calmness and expertise. Our goal is to create a beautiful occasion and make you feel welcome, always. We spend our days planning with families. We stay up to date with industry developments. And we make hard times a little easier.
Learn the legacy.
Bevis Funeral Home and Crematory was founded in 1964 by Russell R. Bevis, and remains an independent family owned funeral home. Rodney J. "Rocky" Bevis has worked in or been around the funeral business his entire life, and in 1998 along with his wife Patti, acquired the funeral home from his father. Much has changed in the 55 plus years since Bevis Funeral Home and Crematory was founded. The one constant over that time is that we are committed to providing caring, compassionate service to the families of our community. That commitment is our duty at Bevis Funeral Home.

Jared A. Padgett
Associate
For Jared, the funeral industry is an important part of his family history. While the 25-year-old began his career as a college athlete, he knew he would eventually find his home working in the funeral industry, as both his mother and his grandfather had before him. He grew up seeing the ways in which their careers, and their family funeral home, James & Lipford Funeral Home, allowed them to serve grieving families during incredibly difficult times.
Jared grew up in Graceville, Fla., and showed an aptitude for football and baseball from a young age, which earned him a number of collegiate scholarship opportunities. He ultimately signed with Mississippi State to play baseball, which led to also playing at two additional schools.
He always knew, however, that as much as he enjoyed sports, he desired to serve families through the funeral industry as his family had done. In 2020, he enrolled in mortuary school at the Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Directing and, in May of 2021, began working at Bevis Funeral Home.
When he’s not at the funeral home, you can find Jared playing video games, enjoying the great outdoors and spending time with his wife, Jenna.
